Summer Reading Program

On Your Mark, Get Set....READ!

Reading Guidelines

Pick up your Summer Reading Log at the Youth Services Department any time between June 20, and August 8, 2016.

• You must read at least 2 hours per week and get your log checked to receive a prize.
• You will get one treasure chest prize and one raffle ticket per weekly visit.
• The last day to get your log checked is Friday, August 12, 2016.*
• If you read at least 20 hours over the summer and get your reading log checked by August 12th, you will win a special prize!

Remember, you may only get your log checked once a week. Children of ALL ages can participate in the reading part of our program. Even the littlest patrons, our pre-readers, since parents or other family members can read to them. Remember, to sign up for any of the summer reading activities, you must also sign up for the reading part of the program.

*Since the last day to get your reading log checked is August 12, the last day to sign up for the reading program is August 8.

Summer Reading Kick-off – Sciencetellers – Power & Energy
Monday, June 20 – 7 PM
Join us this summer as we make things fly, spin, move, and soar while telling you a series of stories that will energize your summer! Throw on your labcoat and get ready to experience the science of power and energy by telling stories using several exciting, hands-on experiments that will have the audience laughing, learning and having fun! Enjoy this spectacular adventure as we discover what makes us move and what powers the world! For children in Kindergarten and up. Sign up required and begins June 6. Annual 4th of July Celebration

Coding with Minecraft
Thursday, July 7 - 1 PM – 3 PM
Calling all crafters! Come learn how to summon lightning bolts with a bow and arrow or build giant rainbows in the Minecraft world with code! Spawn farm animals or monsters instantly and have fun "modding" your world! This workshop introduces coding concepts by showing children how to build or change (e.g. mod) the game using code based on the Javascript programming language. The set-up is easy for beginners, challenging for experienced gamers and fun for everyone! For children ages 8 - 11 years old. Sign up required and begins June 20th. Summer Mother Goose on the Loose

Mother Goose On The Loose is a series of nursery rhyme programs for children from birth through age three. Big sisters and brothers are welcome too. Come to Mother Goose and give your brood a boost! We will have one session each day at 10:30AM.  For children age 3 and younger. No sign up required.
