NOVEMBER 2015

Dear Friends,

Wow! This year's Children's Shopping Day (CSD) was another great success
with many families returning from previous years to enjoy the holiday fun.
Within four hours, more than 125 young shoppers bought over 700 gifts
generously donated by the public. With profits from CSD's bake sale, book
sale, and shopping sale combined, the Friends of the Library raised $1,900,
all of which will help fund the discounted museum passes and movie license
for everyone's enjoyment in the coming year.

Thank you very much to all our dedicated volunteers: our caring and
patient teen and adult shopping assistants, our deftly skilled gift
wrappers, our steadfast bakers, book sorters, and people who generously
gave of their time and good cheer. Your support made this wonderful event
possible. *We couldn't have done this without you.*

We hope to see you all again next year!

President, Friends of the Library

SPRING/SUMMER 2015

May 18, 2015

Dear Friends,

Terrific news! This past weekend we held our annual book sale and made over $2000 from book sales, bake sales, new memberships, and general donations. These proceeds will go directly into fully funding several of Pollard’s more expensive museum passes that come due this time of year, including the New England Aquarium, the Children’s Museum, and the Museum of Science.

Thank you very much to those of you who donated so many wonderful, gently-used books – it was a banner year for book donations! – as well as to those of you who volunteered so much time and good cheer sorting books and making this year’s book sale successful.

See you next year! Until then, we hope you’ll keep treating yourself to good cheap reads for sale in our ongoing book sale area located by the circulation desk on the library's ground floor.

Best wishes,
Amy Woo, President
Friends of the Pollard Memorial Library

Bylaws and Past Meeting Minutes:

About Us:

The Friends of the Pollard Memorial Library is a volunteer group dedicated to supporting the library and its programs. Our primary goal is to support the museum pass program, allowing library patrons to visit designated museums at reduced admission prices. We also sponsor various other programs at the library, such as author programs, genealogy workshops, and movie nights.

Our funding comes from membership dues, donations, book sales, bake sales, and other events, as well as from ongoing sales from our book cart (located in the library next to the circulation desk).

We are committed to supporting the library and the Lowell community. Currently we host an annual book sale, and we plan to add more outreach and membership events in the coming year. Are you interested in a summer garden tour, a fall apple-picking party, a winter bowling night, or a spring wine tasting? Let us know your thoughts. We welcome your input and look forward to the opportunity to get to know you better.

Become a member!

Join us today! Annual memberships are $15 for families, $10 for individuals, and $5 for students and seniors. Your contribution will go directly toward supporting library programs. We are a registered (501)(c)(3)nonprofit. We would be happy to receive your check or money order accompanied by a membership form (available in the library or through the mail by calling 978-674-4120). You might also consider volunteering—we're always happy for the help!
